Who Am I?
I'm Phoenix Lockett, a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a master’s in clinical psychology and over 20 years of executive leadership experience in organizational transformation and human services. My background is a little different from most therapists. Before returning to clinical practice, I spent two decades managing large teams, driving organizational change, and watching firsthand how stress, burnout, and broken relationships spill over into every area of our lives.
I know what it feels like to carry the weight of work, family, grief, and loss all at once — and to quietly long for someone to care for you too. That lived experience, combined with my clinical training, shapes how I show up in the therapy room. I bring both real-world perspective and a calm, direct, trauma-informed approach to every session.
I'm especially drawn to supporting people navigating burnout, strained relationships, major life transitions, and the pressure of caring for everyone else while quietly longing for someone to care for them too.
What is a first session like with me?
Our first session is about creating space for you to feel seen and heard — without pressure or judgment. We'll start with brief introductions, and I'll invite you to share what's bringing you to therapy in your own words and at your own pace. There's no script and no rush. I'll ask questions to help me understand your story, your strengths, and what you're hoping to experience through therapy. By the end of our first session, we'll have a clearer picture of where you are and begin mapping out where you want to go.
What can you expect going forward in therapy?
Therapy with me is collaborative, honest, and grounded in your goals. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach — every person brings a unique story and deserves a tailored plan. My approach is trauma-informed and draws from psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral frameworks, always tailored to what works best for you.
We'll work together to identify patterns, build insight, and develop practical tools you can take into your everyday life. You can expect warmth and directness in equal measure. I'll celebrate your progress and gently challenge you when growth requires it. Some sessions will feel lighter; others will require deeper work — and that's okay. Healing isn't linear, and I'll be with you through all of it.
My goal is for you to leave therapy not just feeling better but equipped with a deeper understanding of yourself and the confidence to navigate whatever comes next.
